REGULAR CLASSES / 6h + 2h practise sessions on Sat & Sun

All classes during the weekend, including the extension workshops are taught in English.

Please read the description below before submitting your registration form. Note that BAL-LOVE is an international festival with many top-level dancers. Even if you are advanced in your local scene, or at another festival, a lower level might be more fitting for you at this festival. There are four levels at the festival. Contact us if you have any questions.

Intermediate-Advanced

This level is for dancers who would like to improve not just their basic technique but also their vocabulary, transitions, flow, and musicality, and work on more complex figures and rhythmical variations. You should have taken classes for 2 years or more to be able to do this level and you are comfortable leading or following moves like progressive forwards and backwards, crab walks, scoothes/side steps, paddle turns, come arounds, out and ins, multiple turns and different kind of throw outs. There will be no audition for this level.

Advanced

This level is for dancers who already know everything mentioned in the Intermediate Advanced level description. You are a key person in your local scene and may even teach. You go regularly to international festivals and have developed your distinct style as a dancer. You quickly learn new moves and footwork and can make up your variations. Musicality, partnership, and creativity are familiar concepts. There will be no audition for this level.

Advanced+

This level is for dancers who already know everything mentioned in the Advanced level description. You are among the best dancers in your local scene. You are regularly at the most advanced level at any festival you go to. You have taken many privates over the years and you practice regularly. As a student, you enjoy being challenged and don’t mind if the learning tempo is fast.
You have to sign up for Advanced+ to join this level, but you are not guaranteed a spot until you pass the audition on Saturday morning. If you don’t pass the audition you will be offered a spot in the Advanced level.

Masters (Invitational)
The Master level is for the most talented and experienced dancers of the event. You can only attend this level if you have registered for the Advanced+ level and if you got an invitation to join the Master level. The invitations for the Master level will be sent out before the festival, but we may also invite dancers to join the Master level during the Advanced+ audition on Saturday morning.

Practice sessions
The practice sessions will have a combined level of dancers. You will rotate during the sessions and do not have to show up with a partner. The aim is primarily to give you more time to work on what you have been learning during the classes, but possibly also to expand on what you have been learning or to combine new and old skills. The sessions will be led by a teaching couple who will organize the class, help you out, and answer questions you may have.

EXTENSION CLASSES / 3h on Friday
